The Second International Music Residency at the Artists’ House Bușteni

September 11 – 17, 2023

Exceptional artistic encounters amidst breathtaking nature! Highly talented young students are invited to refine their interpretative skills through meetings with remarkable musicians from all over the world. During the masterclasses, they have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and perfect their abilities.

After a highly successful concert with a full hall and an enthusiastic audience on June 28, 2023, in Brasov, the remarkable first edition of the international meetings at the Artists’ House Bușteni came to an end. It brought together instrumental students from Germany and Romania under the guidance of professors from the music conservatories in Cologne and Leipzig.

The second edition of the Bușteni International Music Residency is dedicated to chamber music in the violin and piano combination. Taking over the musical leadership for this gathering is the renowned Parfenov Duo, one of the most prominent chamber music ensembles in Germany, composed of violinist Iuliana Münch and pianist-composer Andre Parfenov.

Through its exceptional concept involving the composer on stage, the Parfenov Duo has carved out a special place in the classical music scene of Western Europe, both through its concerts and its successful record recordings.

For young instrumentalists, chamber music is a new domain. In this stage of life and learning, all young performers are focused on solo activities. A completely novel experience for young musicians is delving into a work in direct collaboration with the composer. Who could be more suitable to unveil the secrets and mastery of chamber music than two outstanding solo personalities who have already succeeded in merging into a whole?

The final concert of this musical encounter will take place in Brașov, Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 5:00 PM at the Multicultural Center of Transylvania University. Alongside the young soloists, the Parfenov Duo will also perform.

The International Artists’ House Bușteni Association was founded by Romanian-origin violinist Iuliana Münch Geambașu. She is the initiator and organizer of the music residencies, leveraging her artistic connections worldwide.
